The Xbox Game Streaming preview app was an app that was used with Android phones to test Project xCloud and console streaming. The app was made available on October 1, 2019.
The app was used by people that applied for public xCloud and console streaming tests. For the app to have worked correctly, the user must have been in one of the available regions and be in the correct Xbox Insider ring.

The app was made available in October 2019 to test the then upcoming cloud gaming service service. Participants needed to have access to an Xbox Wireless controller with Bluetooth capability, an Android smart phone and a Xbox profile. It was also recommended that users had access to high speed internet for best performance. A controller clip was also recommended for attaching a controller to the users phone.
Only a small number of games were available with the trial including Halo 5: Guardians and Sea of Thieves, more games were added to the trial as it progressed.
Some time in 2020, the trial concluded, meaning users no longer had access to the service and had to wait until the full public release.
