The Xbox Alpha Controller (also known as the Hammerhead controller) is a controller that was manufactured by InterAct and used by Microsoft with the Xbox Alpha Tower I and II development systems, during the original Xbox's development. The controller had two different designs which were both very similar to each, the only real difference being the logo.
Design[]
A rebranding of the InterAct HammerHead FX, the controller has a similar design to the Sega Genesis controller, with six face buttons on the right. It also features dual analog thumb sticks, similar to the DualShock controller used by the PlayStation consoles, in addition to two triggers on the back, a rumble feature, and is powered by two AAA-size batteries.
Two variations of the controller were produced, which were very similar to each other but had a slightly different shape. Another difference between the two models is the logos. The first model uses the Xbox logo in text form and the other model uses the Xbox logo in its X form. This logo was never used on the finalized Xbox controller.
