The Xbox 360 Prototype Controller was a controller that was in development of the Xbox 360 from Late 2004 - 2005. The controller looks very similar to the white Xbox 360 Controller but the button in the middle doesn't have the green Xbox Logo. The controller works and theres over a hundred of them.
