The Xbox 360 Special Edition Blue Bundle is a limited edition variant of the Xbox 360 E. It was released in September 2014 and was the very last Xbox 360 model to be released. The console sold for $249 US and was sold exclusively at Walmart in the United States.
The bundle included a Limited Edition 500GB blue Xbox 360 E console, a matching blue controller, a physical copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts, a digital download code for Call of Duty: Black Ops II, a black Xbox 360 Wired Headset and a 1-month membership of Xbox Live Gold.[1]
It is estimated that 10000 and 50000 models of this console were created[2].
Design[]
Console[]
The Blue Xbox 360 E was the only special edition Xbox 360 E console released and was the very last variant of the Xbox 360 console line to be released. The console uses a gloss blue color on the disc tray side of the console and a matte blue on the fan side. The console uses another turquoise color on both far ends of the console.
Controller[]
The controller uses the same color scheme as the console. It uses the main blue color on the faceplate of the controller as well as the thumbsticks, D-Pad and Start and Select buttons. It has turquoise triggers and bumpers.
Startup[]
As a result of many Xbox startup screen compilation videos including a fan-made blue variant of the Xbox 360 startup screen in their videos, many people have come to believe that the Blue Xbox 360 E included a unique blue boot screen. This is incorrect as the Blue Xbox 360 E includes the same startup screen seen on all other Xbox 360 consoles. This has been proven in several unboxing, setup, and repair videos showcasing the Blue Xbox 360 E, all of which show the same standard green startup.[3][4][5][6]
The origins of the fake blue Xbox 360 startup screen can be traced back to a YouTube video uploaded on October 5, 2012, two years before the release of the Blue Xbox 360 E[7]. The video was created by simply shifting the hue values in the video from green to blue. Since this video was uploaded, it has been incorrectly listed as an official startup screen in several Xbox startup screen compilation videos on YouTube that have each gained millions of views.[8][9]
