Xbox 20/20

Xbox 20/20 was an ongoing event, with the first being held on May 7, 2020. The event was planned to be held once every month, with each event giving details on new games and details on the then upcoming console, gradually building up until the launch of the Xbox Series X in late 2020.

Despite Xbox saying that an event would be held once every month up until the consoles launch, only two Xbox 20/20 events were held with those being in May and July.

On August 7, it was announced that Xbox would drop the Xbox 20/20 phrasing as it implied that "we would be releasing information in one way only, through a dedicated monthly show." Other reasons that the event was called off was so Xbox could be more flexible with releasing new information.

The first event a part of Xbox 20/20 was held on May 7. The event was live streamed on Mixer, Twitch, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube as an Inside Xbox episode.

The event showcased gameplay and game footage of various third-party Xbox Series X games. This was the first event where Xbox Series X gameplay was shown and the first event that Optimized for Series X games were shown off.

Reception

The event received mixed reactions from fans. Many were disappointed of the lack of actual gameplay shown at the event. Before the event started the event was hyped up to be an event that showed lots of Xbox Series X gameplay, when in reality not much gameplay was shown at all, with most of the content shown in the event just being game trailers.

A few hours after the event had finished and already received heavy criticism for a lack of gameplay shown, Aaron Greenberg, General Manager of Xbox Game Studios, apologized to fans admitting that "we set some wrong expectations".

Xbox 20/20 July event - Xbox Games Showcase

On July 23, the Xbox Games Showcase was held. The event was once again live streamed on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter and Facebook. The show ran for roughly an hour.

The event showcased nine of the fifteen Xbox Game Studios, as well as a few third-party studios. The event also gave a first look at the campaign of Halo Infinite through an eight minute gameplay demo.
