Smart Delivery icon
Smart Delivery is a feature that allows owners of Xbox One versions of games to upgrade to the Xbox Series X | S version for free. Not all titles support Smart Delivery, it is the developers choice whether or not they wish to make their games utilize Smart Delivery. If a title supports Smart Delivery a small icon will be shown on either the box art for the game or somewhere in the digital store.
If a user purchases an Xbox One game that supports Smart Delivery, they will also have access to the game either on the Series S | X with all enhancements for free. This process also works the other way around, if a user bought a title on Xbox Series X they would also have access to the Xbox One version for free.
Major titles that have been confirmed to support Smart Delivery include; Halo Infinite, Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Since Halo Infinite is launching on both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S, someone may want to purchase the title on Xbox One as they may not yet own the new console. After a few weeks the user may have made some progress through the game and now wish to upgrade to a Xbox Series X.
Once they have the console they can now upgrade to the next gen version of Halo Infinite, with all of its improvements for free because the title supports Smart Delivery.
