Most of the online games on the platform have been built by members of the Rec Room community ("#Community rooms"), while some of the most popular rooms have been built by Rec Room Inc. ("#RecRoomOriginal rooms"). Rec Room was released initially on PC in 2016 and is currently free to download and free to play on PC, iOS, Apple TV, PlayStation 4, Oculus Quest, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S.
Currency[]
The in-game currency of Rec Room is called "tokens". On most platforms, it can be purchased through in-game transactions. It allows the user to buy cosmetic and consumable items that have no effect on gameplay. Some #Community rooms offer additional features for tokens.
Cosmetic items purchased with tokens can be viewed in the mirror interface of the dorm room. Purchased consumable items can be viewed with the "Backpack" menu of the watch menu.
