The Hyperkin Duke Controller is a third-party controller developed and released by Hyperkin. The controller is a remake of the original Duke Controller that was originally used with the first Xbox. This updated variant is designed for use with Xbox One consoles and Windows PCs.
Development[]
Seamus Blackley contacted Phil Spencer, the head of the Xbox division, and pitched an idea to revive the old controller. Phil Spencer then gave Blackley the rights to the Duke controller.
Design and features[]
The controller is 70% the same as the original Duke controller; however, the controller has additional bumpers on both sides of the controller. The start and back buttons are replaced with the Xbox One's view and menu buttons. The memory card slots for the controller have been removed since memory cards are not needed with the Xbox One. The controller also features an LED screen that displays the original Xbox boot sequence when turned on or pressed. The cord does feature a breakaway just like the original. The cable is 9 feet long. The controller also features a vibration mode unlike the original that didn't feature have a vibration feature. Custom skins are also still being made for the controller as well.
