The Hama Paradox is a third-party original Xbox controller made in 2005 by the German company Hama GmbH & Co KG. It is based on the Controller S and has a very similar design and feel. The mapping of the black-and-white buttons is similar to that of the The Duke controller. A wired version called "Rocket" was also released.
The controller comes with a receiver that plugs into one of the Xbox Controller ports. The receiver has one slot for Memory Cards or other accessories, but the controller has no slots. The controller runs on four AAA Batteries (even though the manual claims only three are needed) and has a power switch. After a few minutes of inactivity, it enters sleep mode.

Hama claims that the controller has pressure-measuring analog sticks: "If you tighten the analog sticks, pressing will perform a stronger game action".
Programming[]
With the Paradox and Rocket Controller, it is possible to reprogram the controls of games or create button combinations that can be activated with one button press. To do that you have to press the programming button till it blinks. After that, the button that should be pressed to activate the programmed action should be pressed. It is possible to program in up to 15 button presses per combo. While pressing the "back" button delays can also program in between button presses. When finished the programming button has to be pressed again till it doesn't light up anymore.
To reset the controller, the programming button should be activated again, then pressed, and then pressed again, or the receiver should be unplugged from the console. This also resets the controller's programming.
Trivia[]
- When the controller enters sleep mode during a break in a game, the controller has to be switched off and after a few seconds on again.
- The controller can get sticky. Therefore, it is recommended that the user use hand sanitizer or clean it with disinfectant.
- The German video game magazine GamePro gave the controller a Platin Award in 2006., meaning it has a rating of at least 90%.[1]
