Grand Theft Auto VI is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar Games for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The game is set to release sometime in 2025, making it the sixteenth entry in the overall Grand Theft Auto series. The game was confirmed to be in development in early 2022, with the first trailer for the game being released on December 4, 2023.
Following years of speculation, Rockstar confirmed in February 2022 that the game was in development. That September, footage from unfinished versions was leaked online in what journalists described as one of the biggest leaks in video game industry history.
Setting and characters[]
Grand Theft Auto VI is an action-adventure video game set in the fictional open world state of Leonida - based on Florida - which includes Vice City, a fictional version of Miami. Vice City was previously featured in 1997's Grand Theft Auto and as the main setting of 2002's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and 2006's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. The game follows a criminal duo: Lucia, the series' first female protagonist since 2000, and her male partner; the first trailer depicts Lucia as a prison inmate, and later evading custody with her partner.
