This page lists all first-party Xbox Wireless controllers that have been designed for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles. All controllers listed on this page are compatible with all of the previously mentioned consoles. This page contains every controller that has been available through retail outlets, giveaways, sweepstakes, competitions, or given out to specific employees of certain game studios.
Four different models of the standard Xbox Wireless controller have been released since its inception with the launch of the Xbox One in 2013. Each controller has been listed under its corresponding "generation". Additionally, two different models of the Elite controller have been released which are also included on this page.
This page does not take into account the Xbox Adaptive Controller or the near endless number of custom-order Xbox Wireless controllers and Xbox Elite Series 2 Core controllers that are possible via the "Xbox Design Lab" service.
Standard[]
First Generation (2013)[]
The first batch of Xbox wireless controllers were released in 2013. This model did not include a headphone jack or Bluetooth. Both of these features were added to later controller revisions. The first generation of Xbox wireless controllers were produced up until late 2015.

Launch Team Edition |
The Launch Team Edition controller was given to select Microsoft employees that worked on the Xbox One during its development. The controller was bundled in with a matching Launch Team Xbox One console. The controller is white with the words "I MADE THIS LAUNCH TEAM 2013" printed in the middle of the controller. The controller has a rubberized feel as opposed to the smoother texture on standard controllers. The Titanfall Special Edition controller was the first Special Edition Xbox One controller to be released. The controller was originally planned to be bundled with a matching console, however the special edition console was cancelled, leaving the controller to be sold as their own item[2]. China Day One Edition |
The Xbox One became the first games console in fourteen years to be released in China. The console was released in the country on September 29, 2014 and as with all other regions the console was released in, a Limited Edition Day One console bundle was released.
The China Day One Edition controller is essentially the same as the other Day One Edition controllers with the only difference being the text that is printed in the middle of the controller which reads: "CHINA DAY ONE". |

The Armed Forces Xbox One controller was announced on July 15, 2014 along with a matching Armed Forces Xbox One Stereo Headset. The controller incudes a camouflage like design made up of an assortment of different shades of green.

The White Xbox One controller was originally released in 2014 as a part of the Special Edition Sunset Overdrive Xbox One console bundle. In early 2016, the controller would again be bundled with a Special Edition Quantum Break Xbox One console bundle.

Second Generation (2015)[]
The second generation of Xbox Wireless controllers were released shortly before the announcement of the Xbox One Elite Controller in 2015. The first revision of the Xbox One controller added a 3.5 mm headphone jack to the bottom of the controller, improved shoulder buttons, and the ability to wirelessly update controllers. Second generation model controllers were produced from 2015 to late 2016.

| Dusk Shadow | The Dusk Shadow Controller was released on the same day as the Copper Shadow Xbox One controller (February 19, 2016) and is the second controller in the Shadow series. Third Generation (2016)[]
Third generation Xbox Wireless controllers were produced from 2016 until late 2020, when they were succeeded by the new controllers bundled with the Xbox Series X and S. They were originally released with the Xbox One S in 2016 and were also bundled with the Xbox One X in 2017. Xbox Design Lab controllers also used this model.
Third generation Xbox Wireless controllers added Bluetooth support as well as improved thumbsticks and triggers. The addition of Bluetooth connectivity allowed for these controllers to be used on Windows PCs, iOS and Android devices without the need of an adapter.

| Pizza Hut | The Pizza Hut Red controller is a limited edition Xbox One controller that was offered as a prize during Pizza Hut's "The Triple Treat Box Instant Win and Sweepstakes" from November 7 to December 24, 2016. The front faceplate of the controller is gloss red and features the Pizza Hut logo. Aside from the exclusive front faceplate the rest of the controller, including its packaging, is identical in appearance to a standard white Xbox One controller sold individually at retail. Candidates entered a code, found on either the packaging of a Triple Treat Box food purchase or via a requested email as an alternate free method of entry, through mobile or the official website of the sweepstakes for a chance to win one of 1,140 first place prizes randomly seeded at select times during the promotion and/or the grand prize drawn at the conclusion of the contest. | Project Scorpio | The Project Scorpio controller is one of the rarest Xbox One controllers available. It was only available in the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition bundle that was released at the launch of the Xbox One X. The controller is completely black with green text inscribed on the faceplate that reads "PROJECT SCORPIO EDITION". | XFEST 18 Blue | The XFEST 18 Blue controller is one of four variants that were given out at the event of the same name. This variant included a blue D-Pad and triggers. A large cross appears over the right thumbstick, with a circuit board like pattern running across other parts of the controller. Only 200 units of this controller were made. The controllers use an extra glossy texture to achieve the grease-proof gimmick. Fourth Generation (2020)[]
With the launch of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in 2020, an all new Xbox wireless controller was created and bundled with each console. As well as working with the new Xbox consoles, the new controllers are also compatible with Xbox One consoles just like their predecessors and Windows 10 PCs like all third generation controllers.
The controller use mostly the same design as previous models but has had it's shape slightly refined and a new D-pad and textured grips added. Rather than using micro USB as a wired connection like all other standard Xbox Wireless controllers, the controller now uses USB-C as with the Series 2 Elite controllers.
This model was released on the Xbox Series X and S's launch and was initially available in three different colors, with a fourth being made available not long after the console launched.

Each controller used basic Xbox Design Lab customization, however it is important to note that these controllers were given away during the nine month break that Xbox Design Lab took that started in October 2020. These controllers were released five months prior to the return of Design Lab. | Fall Guys Anniversary | To celebrate the second anniversary off Fall Guys, the Fall Guys Twitter account held a sweepstakes giving away a Fall Guys inspired Xbox Series S and matching controller. To enter the sweepstake, participants had to retweet the anniversary tweet using # #FallGuysAnniversaryCustomXboxGiveaway. On August 9, it was announced that the Twitter user @Maria_Eithel had won the giveaway. This user later shared images of the console on their own Twitter page after they received the bundle on September 13. From the images shared by @Maria_Eithel, it can be seen that the design of the controller is much different to the one that was originally shown on the Fall Guys Twitter account. Firstly, the color of the thumb sticks were originally shown as being yellow, while in the controller received by @Maria_Eithel they are black. | Remix Special Edition | The Remix Special Edition controller is the first Xbox controller to be made partly out of recycled plastics and other materials. Older Xbox One model controllers are recycled, with some parts being ground up, allowing some of the materials to be used in newer Xbox controllers. | Arctic Camo Special Edition (2023) | The Arctic Camo Special Edition was released sometime in May 2023 in the United States. It is a rerelease of the controller of the same name that was released in 2020. There are minor differences between this controller and its predecessor, the most notable being that this variant uses the updated Series X/S controller model. Additionally, this controller is not translucent and includes slight changes to the color of the pattern on the controller.
The release of this controller came unexpectedly with no official announcement from Xbox. The controller was first spotted on the Microsoft Store app on Xbox consoles by Reddit user, Jealous-Bedroom-6413[12]. The controller also appeared on the Walmart and Microsoft Store websites several days later[13]. Almost a year after the controller was originally released, on March 26, 2024, an Xbox Wire post was published about the controller. The post gave details on the controller as well as its matching console wrap, while also announcing that the controller would now be available in other parts of the world.[14] |

Series 1[]
The Xbox One Elite Controller is a premium controller based on the second generation of standard Xbox wireless controllers. It was initially bundled with the Xbox One Elite console as well as being sold as a standalone controller. The controller uses a steel construction with a soft-touch plastic exterior, along with interchangeable rear paddle buttons and analog stick tops.
This model was released in 2015, with only three different variants being available. The controller was succeeded by the Elite Series 2 controller in 2019.

The Elite controller is the ultimate Xbox One controller. Released in 2015, this was the Xbox One's first premium controller and the most expensive to date. Features that make the Elite stand out from all other Xbox One controllers is the fact that parts of it can be swapped for other parts. For example the left and right sticks can be exchanged for sticks of different shapes. The D-Pad can also be swapped for numerous different forms. Another feature that makes the Elite stand out is the rear paddles on the back of the controller, no other Xbox One controller (that is not in the Elite series) features this. A second edition of the controller was released in 2019. |

| Gears of War 4 Limited Edition | The Limited Edition Gears of War 4 Elite controller has all of the features of the standard Elite but a different design. The controller has designs of scars, scratches and blood. The Gears of War logo is also shown on the controller. The controller was released around the same time as Gears of War 4. Series 2[]
The Elite Series 2 controller was released in 2019 is the successor to the original Elite controller that launched in 2015. The Elite Series 2 includes many of the features included in the original Elite, such as an interchangeable D-Pad and thumbsticks. The controller also includes new adjustable-tension thumbsticks, shorter hair trigger locks and new rubberized grips. The controller was also bundled with its own carrying case that doubles as a charger. The controller also includes a built in rechargeable battery.
Fourth generation Xbox Wireless controllers used many features that originated with the Elite Series 2 such as USB-C support and rubberized grips.

Series 2 Core[]
In September 2022, the Elite Series 2 Core was released as a more affordable alternative to the standard Elite Series 2, being available for $129.99. The Elite Series 2 Core does not include any of the customizable components that the standard Elite Series 2 does, with these parts being included in the Complete Component Pack which is available separately for $59.99 US.
Like the standard Xbox Wireless controllers, the Xbox Elite Series 2 is also available through Xbox Design Lab, with both the controller and component pack being able to be customized.
