- January 27: The Dead Space remake is released for Windows and Xbox Series X|S.

- February 23: Playground Games announced the new Forza Horizon 5 "Rally Adventure" expansion pack, which released on March 29.

- March 24: The Resident Evil 4 remake is released for Windows and Xbox Series X|S.

- April 18: Minecraft Legends is released for Windows, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.[1]
- April 26: The United Kingdom's Competition and Markets Authority (UK CMA) blocks the Xbox and Activision Blizzard merger from being completed over concerns about cloud gaming.[2]

- July 15: After twenty years at Microsoft and Xbox, Larry Hryb (Major Nelson), announces that he is taking a step back to focus on the next chapter of his career.[3]
- July 17: Xbox announces that Xbox Live Gold will be renamed to Xbox Game Pass Core starting on September 1. Games Pass Core gives users access to online multiplayer gaming, a collection of twenty-five different games from the Xbox Game Pass lineup, as well as the same member deals and discounts previously offered.[4]
- It is also announced the Games with Gold will end on September 1. Any games previously redeemed through Games with Gold will continue to be available to those with an active subscription.[5]

- August 22: Age of Empires IV is released for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.
September[]
- September 1: The Xbox Live Gold and Games with Gold services were discontinued and succeeded by Xbox Game Pass Core.
- September 19: FTC documents leak online revealing Xbox's plans to release hardware refreshes in 2024, including an all-digital 2TB Xbox Series X console, an updated Xbox Series S console and a revised Xbox controller featuring accelerometers, improved buttons and thumbsticks, as well as direct to cloud connectivity.[6]

- October 13: Microsoft finalizes its acquisition of Activision Blizzard for US$68.7 billion, and gains ownership of several franchises under Activision, Blizzard Entertainment, and King – mainly, Call of Duty, Overwatch, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Warcraft, StarCraft, Candy Crush, and Diablo.[7]
- October 24: Just Dance 2024 is released for the Xbox Series X/S.
