The Xbox LIVE Headset was released in 2002 during the launch of Xbox Live. It gives players the ability to communicate with each other using voice chat on the original Xbox.
Some headsets use the same 2.5 mm headphone jack used on the Xbox 360 headset, meaning the headset can also be used with Xbox 360 consoles. Xbox 360 headsets however, are not compatible with the original Xbox due to a big outer ring on the adapter.

The headset was produced from 2002 to 2010 when it was succeeded by the Xbox 360 Wireless Headset.[Citation needed]
